Global Head of Sales

The Role:

Thasos Group is seeking a proven Global Head of Sales to own and drive all aspects of the direct sales cycle, including strategy development, lead generation, revenue, contract negotiation, client satisfaction, and people leadership. The successful candidate will quickly attain expert-level knowledge of mobile phone location data, our platform/technology, products, clients, and other sources of “alternative” data.

You will be the critical leader of the Thasos global sales strategy, which includes:

  • Managing and empowering a team of director-level salespeople
  • Listening to the needs of the market and collaborating with Product and Marketing teams to expand the reach of our current suite of products and define the longer-term product strategy
  • Developing and executing a strategic sales plan and creating reliable forecasts while consistently achieving the business and revenue objectives set forth in the sales plan
  • Developing, running and continually modifying a comprehensive training program for individuals and teams in Sales and Account Management
  • Creating accountability within the Sales team by developing appropriate metrics to define, measure and track performance, and, working closely with HR, coordinating compensation and promotions based on these metrics

This position reports directly to the CEO. Regular performance assessments and forecasts are expected, and the ability to quickly analyze and recommend strategic changes is critical. You will work to develop best practices that will form the foundation for this team.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of experience selling data products or services in the financial services industry; direct relationships with hedge funds strongly preferred
  • Strong track record of exceeding targets and scaling a business to maturity
  • Self-starter who thrives in a rapidly changing, dynamic start-up environment
  • Deep understanding of data products, which may include data feeds, APIs, and analytics platforms; you understand data products and can articulate value proposition in a way that establishes credibility
  • Capability to develop compelling strategies that deliver results
  • Strong network of trust-based relationships with senior buy-side and financial services executives

Corporate Controller

New York, NY

The Role:

Thasos is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Corporate Controller to join our team. The Corporate Controller will report to the CFO and his/her primary responsibilities will include financial reporting, customer invoicing and receivable collections, expense reporting, financial policies and processes, internal controls, maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable and check processing, equity accounting, fixed assets, reconciliations and general financial operations.

Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of accounting including:
    • month-end/quarter-end/year-end close, including reconciliation of accounts, determination of monthly accruals & deferred revenue, closing binder, monthly dashboard and reporting
    • maintenance of general ledger and chart of accounts
    • fixed assets tracking and reconciliation
    • internal and external financial reporting (GAAP)
    • financial controls
    • equity accounting
  • Maintenance of cash forecast and oversight of cash management
  • Tax compliance and reporting, including sales & use tax, corporate tax and excise tax
  • All aspects of accounts payable process including reviewing vendor invoices, obtaining proper approval, entering invoices into QuickBooks and initiating payments to vendors
  • Tracking customer contracts, generating customer invoices and ensuring collection of receivables
  • Reporting, approval and payment of sales commissions
  • Review reports at month-end and complete appropriate variance analysis and research as needed
  • Ensure financial reporting, policies, procedures and internal controls are maintained in accordance with US GAAP and other applicable regulatory bodies. Prepare statutory and compliance-related filings
  • Maintain controls throughout the business to adequately safeguard company assets and identify potential risks in a timely manner
  • Review expenses versus plans and trends to understand key business drivers and help develop plans for improvement. Report budget to actuals. Work with executive team using financial and other quantitative information to improve decision-making
  • Manage corporate insurance programs
  • Primary liaison to external accountants and banks. Manage annual audit and tax return preparation
  • Collaborate with the executive team on establishing corporate objectives, plans and budgets and identify operational improvements and opportunities for growth
  • Build relationships cross-functionally to foster collaboration both inside and outside of Finance & Accounting team

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA/CPA is highly desirable
  • 10 years of experience in accounting/finance positions preferably in professional services and/or technology
  • Recent experience as a corporate controller of a rapid growth technology or services company a plus
  • Highly motivated self-starter who will roll up his/her sleeves to do whatever needs to be done
  • Strong people leader with the ability to produce quality results in an efficient manner

Senior Product Manager

The Role:

As a Senior Product Manager at Thasos, you will design, develop, validate, and prioritize alpha signals, new features, and high-value bespoke projects. You will be responsible for data-driven idea generation, rapid prototyping, and managing a short- and long-term product roadmap for multiple industry verticals. To operate efficiently, you will work closely with cross functional teams of engineers and PhD data scientists in addition to leveraging our existing data analytics platform and code base and writing your own code where necessary or efficient.

The product team at Thasos interfaces directly with portfolio managers and data scientists at large hedge funds to enhance our understanding of existing and intended data usage, trading strategies, and what existing or new products are most appropriate for specific clients. You will identify additional use cases for Thasos data, and create case studies demonstrating Thasos’ product value in the context of current events and market trends.

You will also work with high-level industry professionals in commercial real estate and retail. Information gathered through this function feeds back into the product development cycle described above and enhances client satisfaction.

Finally, you will define, measure, and track performance metrics for new and existing products and research & development initiatives. You will use information gathered from this function to create documentation and materials that make understanding and using our products and signals easy and efficient for a broad range of clients across multiple industries.

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical background. We’ll be relying on you to ensure new versions of our products are correct, and expect you to be able to evaluate our data to find new ways to use it
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and deploying software, data, or other scalable products or services
  • Scripting experience; Python is preferred
  • Knowledge of financial markets or commercial real estate is highly preferred
  • You appreciate the difference between data and information
  • You know why no one ever shows a bad backtest

As a Technical Product Manager for Thasos you will be primarily responsible for deriving actionable insights from mobile phone location data. You’ll interface directly with portfolio managers, data scientists, and key executives across industries, including financial services, commercial real estate, insurance, and retail.

We expect you to conduct domain-specific research, introduce best practices, design processes that keep clients happy, and provide rapid feedback to improve our products. To operate efficiently, you will work closely with cross functional teams, including product, sales, engineering, and data science. You will also leverage our existing data analytics platform and code base and write your own code where necessary or efficient.

Requirements:

  •  Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in analytical field
  •  2+ years of programming experience; Python is highly preferred
  • Strong quantitative skills with advanced training in statistics, numerical analysis, machine learning, or related fields
  • Knowledge of financial markets or real estate is highly preferred, but not required

Director, Marketing

The Role:

As Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for developing a strategy to increase market awareness of Thasos and its products. You will create and distribute long-form white papers, short-form blog posts, infographics, social media materials and other types of content. An ideal candidate has experience in executing B2B inbound marketing strategies in support of lead generation and brand awareness, has the multimedia and copywriting skills to create appropriate content for each distribution channel (website, blog, white papers, PR, social media, etc.) as well as marketing collateral for events, presentations and the sales team. You will work closely with the product development and sales teams to coordinate marketing campaigns and create compelling content. You will also develop and maintain Thasos’ website as necessary. A strong copywriting or journalism background is highly preferred.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications or a related field
  • 2 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in B2B marketing
  • Experience in the financial services or technology sector. Basic domain knowledge about financial services is highly preferred
  • Excellent writing and communication skills required
  • “Web fluency”: understanding of digital marketing best practices, principles of SEO, HTML/CSS
  • Skilled Microsoft Office user; Adobe Creative Suite a bonus. Can create visually appealing layouts and manipulate basic graphics
